[orbit-user] sandbox 6 and 7

Hi Benoit,

As for the tutorials, again the web site is desperately out of date but there is a simple remedy: http://mytestbed.net - please keep in mind that there are two versions of omf installed:

"omf"	: invokes omf version 5.1 (or 5.0 in some cases)
  "omf-5.2"	: invokes omf version 5.2

Under the hood the two version are quite different and images are not interchangeable (to make a long story short, you need at least to make sure you have a 5.2 agent running on the node); the other obvious difference is the image location (5.1 images are stored at repository:/export/orbit/image , while 5.2 images are stored at repository:/export/omf/omf-images-5.2).

Hope this helps.

Ivan.

I am a new user at Orbit-Lab. I'm jumping in this thread to offer my
modest help for updating the online documentation (as time permits). In
fact, I tried the various tutorial on sb1 this week-end and ... failed.
Apparently, the tutorial are not fully up-to-date (I don't know where
the results of the experiments goes and did not found the expected mysql
database).

Just to give feedback on my first experiment on sanbox1 :

What I have succeeded is :
- switch on/off both machine (pretty cool)
- use the telnet service to access console (pretty cool to see the
BIOS/PXE/GRUB...)
- use the imaging tool
- install a custom kernel (2.6.34-rc3-wl with ath5k compiled by myself!)

What I failed :
- use the OML framework to start an experiment and get results.

Regards,
Benoit
